Emilyn has been into babbling long orations that sound meaningful, but to us are mostly incomprehensible except for a word thrown in here and there. However this morning she said two sentences clearly and it took me aback. The first came as I was reading to the big girls at breakfast. Emilyn was just behind me in her highchair where she could not see the pages. I didn't realize she was so interested until she pleaded, "Let me see, Mama!" Jaci and Lainey verified I'd heard what I thought I did. Emilyn also reaffirmed it with her excitement when I turned the pages toward her to see.
The other sentence she used was when I was pouring the big girls their cereal. She said, "I want some, Mama."
She has been asking two word questions now and then like, "What's that?" and "Where's daddy?" but still my eyes got big when I heard my baby talking!!! She's showing me that she's quickly sliding into girlhood and away from babyhood.
This same little girl still refers to bagels as "ba ba" and bananas as "nana".
Emilyn also has been hamming it up for the camera now. If I put one in her face she automatically says, "cheese" and shows her big, tooth gappy smile. Like this...
She has just started bringing me "pieces" of dress-up clothing to put on her. Here she is in a top and bunny ears that she brought to me to put on her.
She also tries to dance with her sisters. She can swing those hips.

So sweet! They really grow up way too quickly don't they! Always love reading your updates. Sending hugs to all!!!

Wow! Isn't it amazing! Maybe now she can teach Austin to speak more! We are still at the long oration phase with a word thrown in here and there.
Austin also likes "dress up". If he sees his Halloween costume, that is what he wants to wear the rest of the day. Can't wait to see all of your "big" girls!!

Another communicator in your family...the house will really be "abuzz" now! How fun to see her wanting to do everything her big sissies do...thank God they are usually good models of behavior to imitate! Can't wait for all your "motor mouths" to be here at Christmas time!!! Kisses and hugs from Pepe too....

Oh my goodness, how exciting that she can now be understood! Your girls are so precious...In the picture with the bunny ears, Emilyn looks a lot like Reagan...your mom pointed that out to me before I even saw the pictures! (We always tell each other when our girls update their blogs!) Looking forward to seeing ya'll SOON!!

Amazing little one! I find that Merritt's milestones are coming more quickly than Sam's ever did and while I love watching her grow, it is a little bit bittersweet at the same time. I hope your house full of girls are continuing to amaze and bless you. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys and your mom and Jacques as you continue to inspire me during good times and bad!
Much love,
Patti
